Our story

13:7 Custom Carpentry was founded in 2024 with the goal of delivering high quality custom built-ins to Eastern Iowa. Starting in a crammed 2-stall garage, 13:7 Custom Carpentry expanded to their shop space in Tiffin in 2026 with a full service custom shop and small showroom attached to display their custom work.

At 13:7 Custom Carpentry, our mission is to glorify God by serving others through exceptional craftsmanship, honest work, and spaces built with purpose. We strive to honor Him in every detail while creating custom pieces that stand the test of time.

Carson has always had a passion for woodworking. It started at a young age helping his dad build jigsaw puzzles and other trinkets for his siblings. As he grew, so did the projects as he started building custom built-ins in middle school working part time for. After high school, Carson attended the University of Iowa and received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering. Carson worked as an engineer for over 2 years before he and his wife, Abby, decided to pursue Carson's carpentry dreams. Outside of work, Carson enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and dogs, spending time outdoors, visiting national parks, and volunteering in their church community.

13:7 Custom Carpentry got its name from the Bible verse John 13:7, which reads, "Jesus answered, "You do not know now what I am doing but later you will understand'". This comes from the last supper when Jesus was washing his disciples feet and Simon Peter wouldn't let Jesus wash just his feet, but requested his whole body be washed. To us at 13:7 Custom Carpentry, this is a wonderful reminder that God has a plan for all of us on this beautiful Earth, Jesus' plan being to die to forgive us of our sins. We all have a purpose on this Earth, what's yours?
